Granada inaugurates the exhibition ‘El Museo del Prado en las Calles’
- Promoted by the Fundación Iberdrola España, the exhibition offers the most relevant works of the national museum to the public in the green heart of the city
- The exhibition continues the tour that began in 2020 by different territories in Spain and will travel through the eight Andalusian cities in this new itinerary
Fundación Iberdrola España brings to Granada the great outdoor exhibition “El Prado en las Calles”, installed on the Boulevard of the Avenida de la Constitución where it can be visited until January 14.
Mª José Martín, territorial delegate of Educational Development and Vocational Training and University, Research and Innovation; Mari Fran Carazo, mayor of Cordoba; Andrés Úbeda, deputy director of Conservation and Research of the Prado Museum; and Fernando García, president of the Fundación Iberdrola España, visited the exhibition this morning on its first day of exhibition.
In addition, the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training of Andalusia and Fundación Iberdrola España are collaborating in the inclusion of the exhibition as an educational resource of the Program for Educational Innovation “Living and Feeling Heritage”, which aims to promote knowledge and understanding of the historical, artistic, ethnographic, scientific and technical values of cultural assets.
This exhibition will allow visitors to tour the different schools that make up the permanent collection of El Prado and learn about the history of Spain, Europe, and Western art through the great masters of painting. The 50 works include the Spanish, Italian, Flemish, French, French, German, and Dutch schools, from the 12th century to the early 20th century.
With its opening in Seville last September, the exhibition has resumed its itinerancy through Andalusia and in the coming months will travel to the cities of Jaen, Almeria, Malaga, Cadiz, and Huelva, in addition to Cordoba and Granada. Curated by Ana Moreno Rebordinos, General Education Coordinator of the Prado Museum, this large outdoor exhibition offers full-scale reproductions of the permanent collection.
Since it began its run in Spain in 2020, ‘El Prado en las Calles’ has accumulated a large number of visitors at its various sites in Castilla La-Mancha, Castilla y León and Extremadura.
