Fundación Iberdrola España will illuminate the Palau de la Música in Valencia

Iberdrola, through its Foundation in Spain, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Valencia City Council to develop an ornamental lighting project for the Palau de la Música. This new lighting is another example of Iberdrola’s commitment to the city and Valencia, with the conservation of historical-artistic heritage and the promotion of the social value of culture.

The mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, and the director of the Fundación Iberdrola España, Ramón Castresana, signed the agreement in an event that was also attended by the president of the Fundación Iberdrola España, Fernando García Sánchez, and the patron from Fundación Iberdrola España, Julio de Miguel Aynat.

The mayor, María José Catalá, highlighted that “we have been working on this surprise for the citizens for some time within the framework of the European green capital and it is a good gift given to us by one of the most important companies in España and, for us “Searching for alliances with companies seeking energy efficiency and sustainability and highlighting the building is an objective from the first moment.” Furthermore, according to the mayor, “the Palau de la Música is one of the most emblematic places that citizens have the most affection for and, therefore, I want to thank the Fundación Iberdrola for accepting the challenge.”

For his part, the director of the Fundación Iberdrola España, Ramón Castresana, stated that “they have given us an approach that we have not been able to reject because part of our origins is in the Valencian Community and for us, it is a challenge to undertake. a job, a technological challenge of these characteristics, in a modern palace.”

The initiative, which is part of Iberdrola’s Lighting Program, will involve an investment of around 200,000 euros to provide the building with new lighting consisting of 155 state-of-the-art LED technology projectors that will accentuate the beauty of the architectural elements through a design adapted to the heritage values of the Palau de la Música.

The project seeks to highlight the unique elements that make up the building and its integration into the environment and will use a careful lighting design, with color temperatures of 3000ºK and 4,000ºK, and shadows that will highlight the volumes of its structure and the particular changes of the layout of the building.

Iberdrola, with the promotion of art and culture

One of Iberdrola’s main areas of action, through its Foundation in Spain, focuses on the care, conservation, and enhancement of historical-artistic riches. The main objective of the Lighting Program is to develop interventions in unique buildings to install or improve their interior and/or exterior lighting systems to contribute to the enhancement of the historical-artistic heritage.

The Fundación Iberdrola España has also participated in other projects in Valencia related to the conservation of cultural heritage, such as the restoration of the tapestries of the Colegio del Patriarca, the lighting of the Chapel of the Holy Chalice of the Cathedral, or the restoration of the Sepulcher of the Boil in the old General Captaincy. In addition, it is a sponsor of the Environmental Protection Award of the Rei Jaume I Awards.

Since 2011, it has allocated more than three million euros. This investment has led to the improvement of more than 40 monuments in España. The works on the historic Roman Bridge of Alcántara, in Cáceres, stand out; the façade of the Supreme Court and the CESEDEN, in Madrid, the interior of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela or the Captaincy General of Seville.
